Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s upcoming performance, Scheherazade, is a sensuous journey of love and adventure.

The concert is a wonderful opportunity to experience Rimsky-Korsakov’s famous piece. One of the classical repertoire’s most popular works, Scheherazade is inspired by the beloved collection of tales One Thousand and One Nights.

This stunning composition is paired with two exceptional works by John Adams: Short Ride in a Fast Machine and Violin Concerto No. 1.

Joining the award-winning VSO for Adams’s concerto is Leila Josefowicz, a passionate advocate for contemporary music. The acclaimed Canadian-American violinist won the 2018 Avery Fisher Prize and is a past recipient of the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship, joining prominent scientists, writers, and musicians who have made unique contributions to contemporary life.

Scheherazade takes place October 14 at 7 pm at the Orpheum, October 15 at 7 pm at Bell Performing Arts Centre in Surrey, and October 16 at 2 pm at the Orpheum.
