Experience hip hop, Ballroom, the hustle, and contemporary dance this International Dance Day with The Dance Centre, which is presenting free workshops and a ticketed performance on April 29 to mark the annual celebration.

Three free workshops take place from 1:30 pm to 3 pm at 800 Robson Plaza, and are open to all. OURO Collective will deliver dynamic hip-hop and street dance styles, Hustle at RS Dance Society will offer an introduction to hustle social dancing, and VanVogueJam founder Ralph Escamillan will lead an introduction to European Runway.

At the Scotiabank Dance Centre, Action at a Distance will premiere its innovative new work Soft Currents at 6 pm. The piece co-presented with New Works brings together 15 dance artists to explore the idea of collective responsibility.

Initiated in 1982 by UNESCO, International Dance Day commemorates the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, regarded as the founder of modern ballet.

Tickets and more details are at The Dance Centre.
