Guitar master Adrian Verdejo to take on two world premieres at Vancouver New Music Concert February 20 to 28
Works by Wolf Man Edwards and Peter Hannan feature on the program
Vancouver New Music has just announced it will present guitarist Adrian Verdejo in a streamed concert, available by demand from February 20 to 28. The news comes after the group had to cancel a show last May by the artist due to the pandemic.
One of the city’s top guitarists, Verdejo will perform two world premieres: Wolf Man Edwards’ Chains for solo guitar and electronics and Peter Hannan’s Punkt not punked for electric guitar and electronics. Elsewhere on the program are recent works by Diego Lozano Verduzco, Julia Mermelstein, and Rodney Sharman.
You may have seen Verdejo perform as a soloist, with acclaimed flutist Mark McGregor, and with the Victoria Guitar Trio. He’s also played with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Turning Point, Aventa Ensemble, and more.
VNM artistic director Giorgio Magnanensi joins Verdejo and guests for a free, online artist chat on February 23 at 5 pm; check its website for details.
