Anvil Theatre hosts the Saltwater Hank Trio, led by Ts’msyen musician Saltwater Hank (aka Jeremy Pahl), in concert on December 7 at 7:30 pm.
Hailing from Txałgiiw (Hartley Bay) and now based in Lax Kxeen (Prince Rupert), Saltwater Hank delivers a raucous performance that blends the sound of rock ’n’ roll with the rhythmic complexities of his Ts’msyen ancestors, all with lyrics written entirely in his language, Sm’algya̱x. The resulting melodies are a spoonful of oolichan grease—the perfect dose of musical medicine that’s sure to leave audiences wanting more.
Saltwater Hank connects listeners and members of his culture by reviving his heritage through music, allowing folks today to experience ancient oral traditions in a vibrant and powerful way. His stories breathe life into forgotten narratives and channel traditional language to shape a new generation of storytellers.
Tickets to the concert and more details are available through the Anvil Theatre.
