Arts Umbrella Dance Company’s Mixed Nuts, a holiday family favourite, returns to the Vancouver Playhouse from December 15 to 17 with showtimes at 2 pm and 7 pm.
A modern and engaging twist on Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, Mixed Nuts brings an assortment of dance styles together for an extra-special holiday treat.
Arts Umbrella Dance Company, led by artistic director Artemis Gordon, is Arts Umbrella’s pre-professional repertory company. Dancers rehearse and perform new, innovative works by leading North American and European choreographers in their season, which includes three annual performances: December’s Mixed Nuts, March’s Midseason, and May’s Season Finale.
The company’s broad-based performance and touring opportunities, along with rigorous technical training, prepares dancers for education at the university level as well as for a career with professional dance companies. Graduates can be found dancing in companies around the world, including Kidd Pivot, Nederlands Dans Theater II, Ballet BC, and more.
