Creative journeys await as Arts Umbrella opens spring-break registration for ages 2 to 19
Rigorous health-and-safety protocols in place for courses ranging from painting and architecture to acting and comedy
Travel options may be limited this Spring Break, but Arts Umbrella has a packed program of classes to keep children and teens' imaginations running free this March.
With rigorous health and safety measures in place, its Vancouver and Surrey locations are offering creative experiences in everything from acting and music to cartooning and sculpture.
Socially distanced in-person and remote options are available for children and young people aged 2 to 19.
Course options include Drawing & Painting, Acting: Stage & Screen, Architecture, Comedy & Improv, Cartooning, Mixed Media & Sculpture, Visual Arts Studio, and more. A budding architect can explore the world of energy conservation, water management, and sustainable landscapes; and drawing and painting enthusiasts can get inspired by composition, colour, and art history, then apply their ideas to the page..
Programs run for the two weeks of Spring Break: March 15 to 19 and March 22 to 26. Projects differ from week-to-week, allowing students the option of enrolling in either one area of study or two. (Musical Theatre, a program with singing, dancing, and acting, is the exception, running as a two-week program.)
All are held to strict health and safety protocols, including cleaning measures, physical distance guidelines, mandatory masks for those aged six and over, and strict health declarations.
The same care and attention is put into instruction. Arts Umbrella’s Spring Break programs not only teach the fundamentals of each art form, but also help children to challenge their creative limits, build self-confidence, and discover new passions. Artist-instructors work with every young person to help them realize their full potential.
Focusing on the areas of Art & Design, Dance, and Theatre, Music & Film, Arts Umbrella is a nonprofit centre for arts education that believes art is powerful enough to change children’s lives in incredible ways. It reaches 24,000 students per year. It has four locations over Vancouver and Surrey.
Spaces for the Spring Break program are limited. Program details, fees, and enrollment information can be found here.
