Ballet BC continues its ambitious 2023-24 season with NOW, an exciting evening of contemporary dance that features the return of Crystal Pite’s modern masterpiece The Statement, as well as world premieres from Vancouver’s own Out Innerspace, and L.A.-based rising star Micaela Taylor.

Landing on International Women’s Day weekend, the program is centred on West Coast-based female creators.

Pite’s The Statement is back at Ballet BC by hugely popular demand following sold-out performances in Europe and New York City. The tour de force dance-theatre hybrid explores themes of power, control, and moral conflict as four dancers move to an exacting script by Canadian playwright Jonathon Young.

Choreographic duo Out Innerspace—Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond—premiere an immersive, funky new creation set to music by experimental Japanese artist Asa Chang; and Taylor presents a brand-new creation that follows the premiere of her dynamic work Volo in Ballet BC’s 2022-23 Annex program.

NOW shows at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre from March 7 to 9 at 8 pm. Tickets and more details are available via Ballet BC.
