BC Movement Arts Society welcomes Vancouver-based company Ne. Sans Opera & Dance for performances from May 25 to 28 across three different venues.

Part of the society’s annual North Island Contemporary Dance Series, the shows will be held at Sointula’s Athletic Hall on May 25 and 26 at 7:30 pm; Port McNeill’s Gate House Theatre on May 27 at 2:30 pm; and Campbell River’s Tidemark Theatre on May 28 at 7 pm.

The mixed program features two pieces choreographed by Ne. Sans Opera & Dance’s founder-artistic director Idan Cohen: Solo for Orpheus and Hourglass.

In Solo for Orpheus, Cohen draws inspiration from Greek mythology to examine the struggles of a performance artist as embodied by solo dancer Ted Littlemore, who incorporates skills from drag to accordion playing.

Contrastingly, Hourglass—a quartet performed by Littlemore, Kate Franklin, Benjamin Defaria, and Will Jessup—is a poignant exploration of passing time set to celebrated minimalist composer Philip Glass’s 20 Piano Études.

Tickets and more information can be found here.

June 25 to 28, BC Movement Arts finishes its 2nd season with the multi-talented Tara Cheyenne Performance’s Body Parts. More details to come.
