Exciting works by four important 20th-century composers will be in full splendour when Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents Bernstein, Shostakovich, Price & Adams.

Politics, satire, and a steady rhythmic drive are the connecting threads throughout the program.

The concert features Bernstein’s Overture to Candide; Violin Concerto No. 2 by Florence Price; The Chairman Dances by John Adams; and Shostakovich’s masterful Symphony No. 9.

Andrew Crust, VSO associate conductor (Marsha & George Taylor Chair) and Timothy Steeves, VSO associate concertmaster (William and Irene McEwen Chair) will perform at the highly anticipated Newmont Masterworks Gold Series concerts.

Bernstein, Shostakovich, Price & Adams takes place Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7 at 8 pm at the Orpheum.

To honour a promise made to valued subscribers and to encourage physical distancing, this concert will be seated at 60% capacity.
