Studio 58 kicks off its season October 6 to 16 at Performance Works with Blue Stockings, Jessica Swale’s sharp and inspiring comedy about four educational pioneers.

It's 1896 when they begin their studies at Girton, the first college to allow women at Cambridge University. But unlike their male peers, no matter how hard they study, the Girton girls are denied degrees upon graduation. They leave as “Blue Stockings”—educated and intellectual, but both unqualified for the workforce and unmarriageable in the eyes of good society.

You’ll be astonished by the barriers these women face as they fight prejudice and struggle to achieve the basic right to a degree.

Jamie King directs this production featuring the students of Langara College’s renowned professional theatre training program.
