Brazilian-American piano improviser Henrique Eisenmann leads Capilano University jazz ensembles at BlueShore at CapU on October 27 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Drawing inspiration from various world music genres, voices, poems, and found sounds, Eisenmann has established himself as an innovator inside the contemporary improvisation world, creating an original musical universe that is powerfully inventive yet accessible and entertaining.
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Eisenmann is intrigued with the idea of translating different sonorities to the piano. Constantly collaborating with dancers, poets, actors, and visual artists, the musical result is a daring fusion of unusual contemporary jazz, free improvisation, folk-Latin melodies, and classical music. His latest album release, 2022’s Nação, dives into an exuberant and contradictory Brazil.
A faculty member at The Juilliard School, Eisenmann leads Capilano University jazz studies students in both large and small ensembles in an evening of inventive music.
