African and American blues-influenced guitarist Justin Adams and Italian fiddle player and percussionist Mauro Durante are such exceptional players and composers that audiences who witness their performance on February 28 at the BlueShore Financial Centre for the Arts will experience a completely unique blend of world music: Afro-American-Italian folk-rock.

Adams plays guitar for Robert Plant’s post-Zeppelin bands, and has produced records for the award-winning African music collective Tinariwen. Durante, meanwhile, leads Italy’s premiere music ensemble Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino. The pair’s first album, Still Moving, was released in 2021 to critical acclaim.

During synergistic live performances, Adams and Durante create music that seems more expansive than imaginable for just two musicians. The range of sounds that Durante is able to achieve on the frame drums is truly astounding, while Adam’s guitar playing swings from desert blues to John Lee Hooker boogie with astonishing dexterity.

Tickets to the 7:30 pm concert are at capilanou.ca/centre.
