Powerful Indigenous singer-songwriter Kym Gouchie and her all-woman three-piece band seamlessly blend contemporary with traditional in a concert at Capilano University’s BlueShore Financial Centre for the Performing Arts on April 7 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

Based in Prince George, B.C., Gouchie’s traditional hand drum, acoustic guitar, full-bodied voice, and authentic storytelling are a powerful force. Her performances are known for their lasting impact, instilling messages of inspiration and hope into listeners.

Gouchie’s style is inspired by female artists among the ranks of Patsy Cline, Linda Ronstadt, Lucinda Williams, and Buffy Sainte-Marie. Her band includes singers Naomi Kavka on cello and guitar and Ian Olmstead on keyboard.

Gouchie is also a renowned visual artist and cultural ambassador, who is often called upon by organizations around the world to offer Indigenous insight that results in positive growth.
