At Capilano University’s BlueShore Financial Centre for the Performing Arts, Marc Ribot and his trio Ceramic Dog perform a concert on October 16 at 7:30 pm.

The band will play tunes from their new album Connections, which showcases Ribot’s thrilling versatility. A New York mainstay, Ribot is a gifted guitarist, writer, and artist, whose adventurous sound dives into jazz, punk, blues, funk, reggae, avant-garde, and spoken word. His diversity and guitar mastery make him a go-to collaborator, most notably for Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, and John Zorn.

Ribot puts the “beyond” in the section tagline, “Jazz, Blues & Beyond”. This is especially true with his long-time trio Ceramic Dog, featuring Shahzad Ismaily on bass and keyboards, and Ches Smith on drums, percussion, and electronics. Their anything-goes sensibility allows the group to morph into numerous styles.
