An evening of mind-expanding music played with the highest standards of virtuosity and innovation is promised when prog-rock supergroup tu:NER takes the stage at Capilano University’s BlueShore Financial Centre for the Performing Arts on May 26 at 7:30 pm.
Known for being inventive yet accessible in nature, tu:NER draws upon elements of rock, jazz, prog, and funk, among other genres. The trio of Pat Mastelotto, Trey Gunn (both of whom are best known for their work with King Crimson), and Markus Reuter (stick guitarist for the Stick Men) will perform original music and choice cuts from King Crimson’s legendary songbook.
Audiences will also be treated to characteristic improvisations, which—instead of simply jamming—consist of “instant compositions” in the telepathic fashion of a unit that is constantly listening to each other with both their ears and souls.
Tickets to see tu:NER, a copresentation with the Rickshaw Theatre, are available at capilanou.ca/centre.
