Boca del Lupo is partnering with the Indian Summer Festival to co-present Drift by local multidisciplinary artist Kimira Reddy at Ocean Artworks on Granville Island from July 6 to 14. Drift is a free, family-friendly installation designed for contemplation, interaction, and reflection in an open, creative environment.

Visitors are invited to embark on a transcendent journey with Drift, an awe-inspiring installation by celebrated artist Reddy. Poised to be a highlight of the Indian Summer Festival, the work will offer attendees an immersive exploration of life’s profound paradoxes—growth and decay, permanence and transience, the everlasting and the ephemeral.

Drift presents a breathtaking visual tableau created from a canopy of vibrant fabrics flowing through driftwood, suspended ethereally above. This captivating arrangement invites viewers to gaze upward and contemplate the complex roots of existence, creating a space for introspection and wonder.

Reddy is an award-winning set designer, creative director, and artist based on the Sunshine Coast. As the featured artist of the Indian Summer Festival in 2022, Reddy created Under the Banyan Tree, an art installation on Granville Island inspired by the giant banyan trees in India. It invited guests to rest, reflect, and reconnect for a moment in space. Drift is Reddy’s new installation for the Indian Summer Festival this July.

Drift is the third presentation in Boca del Lupo’s Micro Performance Series, which provides a big impact through small-scale creations and experiences. These productions are created and performed by local, national, and international artists working across disciplines in intimate forms. The series pays homage to micro performances, an emerging global trend proliferating in many forms, from theatre and dance to new media, live art, and interactive technology.

Boca del Lupo’s Micro Performance Series launched last January with Dear Laila in partnership with the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival. The second presentation was TREE, performed by Quebec’s Théâtre Motus, and co-presented with the Vancouver International Children’s Festival.

Drift will be open for visitors to see Monday through Friday from 11 am to 6 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 1 pm to 8 pm.
