Capture Photography Festival announces 2025 Selected Exhibitions Program

Krystle Silverfox, Natasha Katedralis, Fred Herzog amid the names showing at galleries and venues across Metro Vancouver

CAPTURE PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL has announced its Selected Exhibitions Program for 2025, with shows taking place all across Metro Vancouver.

Running until April 13 is Town + Country: Narratives of Property and Capital, a group exhibition at Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery.

From February 5 to July 1 is Corner Stores and Collective Memory, a group exhibition at MONOVA: Museum of North Vancouver.

The works of Tiziana La Melia are on display at Or Gallery from February 6 to May 10 in a show called Country Mouse City Mouse Hamster.

Reframed: Understanding New West Through Photos is a group exhibition at New Westminster Museum from February 6 to June 29.

The works of Meera Margaret Singh are on display from February 22 to May 18 in Meera Margaret Singh: What We Hold at the Art Gallery at Evergreen.

Faber Mo Neifer is featured in a show called It’s All Chinese To Me from February 22 to September 6 at Town Centre Park Community Centre.

Running from March 6  to April 26 is Part of the Land featuring Krystle Silverfox at Macaulay + Co. Fine Art.

From March 8 to May 3, Miao Xiaochun: A glimpse through time showcases works by Miao Xiaochun at 沙甸鹹水埠 Canton-sardine.

At the Burnaby Art Gallery at Bob Prittie and Metrotown Library are works by Natasha Katedralis in Natasha Katedralis: Eyebat, The Cutting Floor from March 18 to June 17.

A group exhibition called The Flower Show runs March 22 to April 19 at Monte Clark, while another group exhibition titled Shadows of Light is on at Shipyards Coffeee from April 1 to 30.

Barbara Strigel is featured in Expect Delays running from April 1 to 30 at Gallery 881.

From April 1 to 30 is a show called NOVA Gallery: 1976–81 at OHCE-ECHO.

Taking place at Alliance Française de Vancouver from April 3 to 27 is A General Theory of Relative Ground featuring works by Annie Briard and Scott Massey.

Spinner and the Spindle: Tuning Meaning & Threading Ideas features works by Fatimah Tuggar, running April 5 to May 3 at Monica Reyes Gallery.

Photos by Alex Gibson will be highlighted in A hound marks its spot at Wil Aballe Art Projects from April 5 to May 3.

The late Vancouver artist Fred Herzog’s works take the spotlight in Vitality: Fred Herzog Photographs In and Around Chinatown April 5 to May 3 at Equinox Gallery.

Running from April 5 to December 20 is geographies of longing featuring photos by Ogheneofegor Obuwoma at Harbour Centre Lounge, SFU Vancouver Campus.

Mary Sui Yee Wong is the featured artist in Restless by Nature: Mary Sui Yee Wong, 1990s to the present, running April 12 to June 8 at Richmond Art Gallery.

Over at Zebraclub from April 13 to May 31 is The Failed Life of a Cowboy featuring photos by Charlie Mahoney-Volk.

A group exhibition called Piggybacks through the Living Room takes place April 15 to May 1 at Unit 302.

Happening April 16 to June 8 is Blooming While Withering, featuring works by 王晨釔 Rebecca Wang at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden.

SUM gallery is hosting Unsavoury Witness, with works by Alejandro A. Barbosa from April 16 to June 6.

Barbara Astman is featured in Barbara Astman: An Overview at Paul Kyle Gallery from April 23 to June 7.

And works by Collin Patrick are featured in Sit Still from April 24 to July 26 at The Black Arts Centre.

This year’s Selected Exhibitions Program was assembled by a jury made up of Richard William Hill (Smith-Jarislowsky senior curator of Canadian Art at the Vancouver Art Gallery), Gonzalo Reyes Rodriguez (artist and assistant professor, Emily Carr University of Art and Design), and Eve Schill (associate curator in the Wallis Annenberg Photography Department at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art), alongside Emmy Lee Wall (Capture’s executive director and chief curator).

The Capture Photography Festival runs from April 1 to 30.
