Juno-winning artist Elisapie returns to the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts with the West Coast premiere of Uvattini, a multimedia show that immerses audiences in the story of her home, on September 28 at 8 pm.

Uvattini, which means “home” in Inuktitut, combines music, narration, performance, and video directed by Émilie Monnet to reveal the intimacies of Elisapie’s Salluit community, located in the very north of Nunavik. By mixing poetry with projections of landscapes and slices of life, the trailblazing artist conveys the Inuit experience. This concert copresented with VIFF will give audiences Elisapie’s most personal offering yet—that of her own story.

Elisapie’s 2018 album The Ballad of the Runaway Girl was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize, earned her numerous Félix Awards, and resulted in a coveted NPR Tiny Desk concert. Her latest release Inuktitut features classic rock and pop covers in her native tongue.

Tickets to Uvattini are available through the Chan Centre.
