The Kronos Quartet, which has just celebrated its 50th anniversary, returns to the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts on October 26 at 8 pm for its first performance there in a decade, featuring a brand-new program of music, as part of the Chan Centre Presents series curated by Jarrett Martineau.

According to the New York Times, the innovative group has “broken the boundaries of what string quartets do” over five decades of performances. The Kronos Quartet has commissioned over 1,100 new works, recorded over 70 albums, and won more than 40 awards, including three Grammys.

The ensemble consistently delivers cutting-edge string music, with collaborations ranging from tabla master Zakir Hussain and genre-defying musician Rhiannon Giddens to Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie. This will be the Canadian premiere of the Kronos Quartet’s just-announced lineup featuring new violinist Gabriela Díaz and violist Ayane Kozasa.

Tickets are available through the Chan Centre.
