Chan Centre for the Performing Arts hosts Silkroad Ensemble: Uplifted Voices, March 30
Concert shines a light on previously under-recognized Japanese, Armenian, Irish, Scottish, and Indigenous music

Silkroad Ensemble.
The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts presents Silkroad Ensemble: Uplifted Voices, a concert that shines a light on previously under-recognized voices from across the globe, on March 30 at 7 pm.
The Silkroad Ensemble features lap-steel slide guitarist and vocalist Pura Fé, percussionist Haruka Fujii, Celtic harp player and vocalist Maeve Gilchrist, cellist Karen Ouzounian, and violinist-vocalist Mazz Swift. Through a stunning collaboration of global instrumentation and strings, the group’s newest project champions its women and non-binary members to connect the music of Indigenous North America to the world.
Drawing inspiration from the folk and ancestral songs of Japan, Armenia, Ireland, and the Hebrides, as well as from Indigenous populations across North America, Uplifted Voices brings together this collection of distinctive and powerful musical origins within a contemporary musical tapestry.
