Chutzpah! Festival Closing Night: The El-Salomons takes place November 28 at 7 pm via livestream
WE COULD ALL use a laugh these days, and the Chutzpah! Festival brings it big time to its 2020 finale. The El-Salomons headline an evening of comedy on November 28 with a lineup of top jokesters.
Jess Salomon and Eman El-Husseini make up the Jewish-Palestinian couple that moved from Montreal to New York to pursue their comedy careers. After years of performing solo, they decided to another challenge to their marriage: a duo act. For Chutzpah!, they’ll be livestreaming from Brooklyn, where they mine the politics of their relationship for jokes and stories about love. Salomon has appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon; the two have performed on BBC and recorded a Crave TV comedy special at the Just for Laughs Festival.
Vancouver comedian Kyle Berger (coproducer of Rise of the Comics and previously seen by Chutzpah! audiences with Shticks & Giggles) opens the show and welcomes other local comics such as Joey Commisso and Julie Kim.
Chutzpah! host Iris Bahr, an award-winning actor, writer, and director and host of hit podcast X-RAE, kicks off the second half and welcomes the headliners. Throughout the fest Bahr has introduced some of her alter egos, which include Shosh, a salty Israeli who has become popular on Instagram; Rae Lynn Caspar White, her "Southern redneck intellectual"; and Shuli, her Orthodox character who is beyond excited to “dive into the arts” for the first time.
