Co.ERASGA presents TOGETHER/A P A R T, a new collection of digital duets
The online dance project part of Co.ERASGA’s 2021 season programming premieres during BC Culture Days this fall
Co.ERASGA is pleased to present TOGETHER/A P A R T, a new digital-duet collection running September 24 to October 9.
The online project premieres during BC Culture Days. Tickets are free or by donation here.
TOGETHER/A P A R T is part of an initiative to reach out to independent local, national, and international dance artists amid the pandemic to support and celebrate these artists’ resilience and provide an alternative way for dance to continue.
The seven duets were all created at various stages of the pandemic.
The program features:
Alison Denham + Billy Marchenski
Marc Arboleda + Kayla De Vos
Kris-Belle Mamangun + Naishi Wang
Kevin Fraser (Immigrant Lessons)
Deanna Peters + Alvin Erasga Tolentino
Joshua Ongcol + Antonio Somera Jr.
Brian Solomon (Electric Moose)
Central to the project is digital experimentation. Since the height of the pandemic, artists have found themselves pivoting to express their ideas with the assistance of technology in the digital age.
Co.ERASGA honours the living practice of dance as the main impetus of the project and for the digital technology to observe, capture, and help tell our stories and dances in this unprecedented time that we are journeying through together.
Alvin Erasga Tolentino founded Co.ERASGA in 2000. Tolentino is an active Asian/Canadian dance artist who continues to reveal, provoke, fascinate, and bring a fresh voice to the national and international dance scene. The company is dedicated to the research, creation and presentation of contemporary dance.
TOGETHER/A P A R T funders include Culture Days, Co.ERASGA, City of Vancouver, British Columbia Arts Council, and Canada Council for the Arts.
People can view the pre-recorded collection at home with their bubble and engage with other viewers through the online chat function.
TOGETHER/A P A R T premieres on September 24 at 7 pm PDT. (The collection runs until October 9. BC Culture Days continues to October 24.)
