DanceHouse launches 2024-25 season with Agustina Videla’s Social Tango, October 24 to 26

Immersive performance sees a shy woman swept off her feet by the seductive world of tango through live music and projections

DanceHouse is opening its 2024-25 season with the B.C. premiere of Argentinian choreographer Agustina Videla’s Social Tango at the Vancouver Playhouse from October 24 to 26 at 8 pm, presented with community partner Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre.

In Social Tango, a shy, hesitant woman takes a step into a new world and is swept off her feet by the seductive, sinuous dance form known as tango. Her journey through milongas (sites where tango is performed) is a celebration of human connection brought to life by four musicians, a singer, and evocative multimedia projections. Videla invites audiences to experience this incendiary, immersive evening, sharing the value of social dance.

Pre-show talks with Videla take place each night in the Upper Lobby; plus, there’s a post-show reception in the Salon on October 25 and post-show milongas with StevenJoannaTango on October 24 and 26.
