DanceHouse's Spirit of Dance campaign helps keep the uplifting art form alive and online
The company has pivoted to digital performances that are extending the reach of bold, inspiring works
Dance raises our spirits. Dance lifts us up. The joy of dance continues to bring us together across borders and lockdowns.
This winter, DanceHouse invites you to join in celebrating the art form and what it gives us by taking part in its winter fundraising campaign, Spirit of Dance. In the Spirit of Dance, DanceHouse needs continued support to ensure its permanence in the Vancouver arts community.
DanceHouse’s integral role has continued through pandemic lockdown, as it’s pivoted to offer online opportunities, programming bold, innovative companies it could not otherwise bring to the city. Virtual presentations of works by Nederlands Dans Theater and Pina Bausch have reached audiences across BC and beyond, making some of the world’s most exquisite, vibrant dance more accessible that ever before—at a time when audiences need their spirits lifted.
The goal of the campaign with a goals to raise $20,000 by December 31. Contributions are already helping to get it there, thanks in large part to a number of generous matching donors whose collective matching donations totaled $7,500. Dancehouse is currently at $16,000 of its goal; by donating now, fans of its top-flight international, national, and local programming can help the organization reach or surpass its goal.
Over the course of this fall, Dancehouse has been deeply touched to see the continued support from its dedicated audiences. Every ticket bought, every social media share, and every email of encouragement has helped us to continue presenting dance. Some have called their friends and loved ones to share their impressions after DanceHouse presentations. Now, you can further your involvement in DanceHouse and support it with a donation.
Given the pandemic situation, it may not be the best time for everyone to donate. However, if you are in a position to do so, DanceHouse thanks you in advance for your support.
Together we can keep the Spirit of Dance alive, through digital presentations and, eventually, live performances again.
