Elektra Women’s Choir presents At the Spring Dawn, a program in celebration of International Women’s Day, at the Pacific Spirit United Church on March 10 at 3 pm.
This concert features repertoire by Canadian composers Sherryl Sewepagaham, Frances Farrell, Katerina Gimon, Gerda Blok-Wilson, Kate MacColl, Kathleen Allan, and Marie-Claire Saindon.
International composers Joan Szymko, Abbie Betinis, Nancy Grundahl, and Libby Larsen keep company with Ukrainian composer Iryna Aleksiychuk as the choir performs her new work, The Song, co-commissioned by Elektra Women’s Choir along with several international women’s choirs. From a work that incorporates a Hildegard von Bingen chant to Larsen’s earth-conscious Psalm 121, audiences will discover music that is meaningful and memorable.
Joining Elektra Women’s Choir for part of the program are the group’s Mira Youth Mentorship program participants.
Tickets and more details are available online via Elektra Women’s Choir.
