Emily Carr University is set to welcome students back to campus for continuing studies courses this fall for a selection of in-person courses. Meanwhile, the school is also offering the flexibility and variety of a range of online learning.

Many of the school’s painting courses are returning to in-person instruction. Introductory classes in watercolour, oils, acrylics, or figure painting resume throughout the fall in the studios on campus.
And the Metal Sculpture Open Studio is back. Students can refine their skills and knowledge of contemporary metal sculpture practices, and learn all the techniques and processes needed to create pieces.
For those who’ve always wanted to try printmaking, check out the new Introduction to Printmaking course, with a Screen Printing course on campus on Saturdays in September and October.
On the technical end of programming, students can start building their web and digital design toolkit and open up a world of job opportunities with introductory and intermediate-level courses. In British Columbia, web designers and interactive media developers are considered high opportunity occupations. As more businesses and organizations transition online due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19, there is even greater demand for skilled workers to design digital products and services that effectively engage users. Elsewhere, students can develop their career as a creative professional in a professional practices for designers course. Ideally suited to those involved in design practices and developing a business—or those interested in building a career—the course outlines strategies and techniques for developing your creative services. It allows students to identify their distinct qualities as a creative practitioner, craft effective professional communications, discover professional design resources, develop a marketing plan, and practice delivering confident presentations.
And check out the variety of independent projects courses in Drawing + Mixed Media, perfect for students and emerging artists who want to develop their practice. You will be encouraged to cultivate your individual expression and visual language, with guidance from the instructor and generative feedback from group critiques.
