Registration is now open for the intensive pre-university program, with online options for 2D Animation, Illustration, and Creative Coding + Web Design studios
Emily Carr University is pleased to announce that the Summer Institute for Teens 2022 is scheduled to run in person at the Emily Carr University Campus.
In addition to on-campus studios, online options are also being offered for the following studios: 2D Animation, Illustration and Creative Coding + Web Design.
Summer Institute for Teens (SIT) runs July 4 to 29, 2022, Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 4 pm. Registration is now open. SIT is open to students ages 16 to 18, or who will have finished Grade 10 by July 1, 2022.
SIT is a pre-university program that prepares students for the next step in their creative career featuring small classes taught by professional, practising artists.
The immersive, one-month experience is designed to engage learners across all levels of experience. With a focus on creative processes, SIT studios help students build foundational to intermediate skills in studio practices and visual culture.
Studio practice is complemented by discussion, in-class critique, and field trips to engage with Vancouver’s diverse art and design community.
The program culminates with a public exhibition of student work in Emily Carr’s Michael O’Brian Exhibition Commons.
Students have a choice of 11 studios in a range of disciplines across visual arts, media, and design. No previous experience in the subject area is required.
Studios include 2D Animation, Architecture + Environmental Design, Communication Design, Creative Coding + Web Design. Digital Filmmaking, Drawing, Game Design, Illustration, Industrial Design, UX Design, and Painting.
Emily Carr University’s top priority is the health and safety of students, instructors and staff. Its Teen Programs have safely returned to on-campus activities, in alignment with public health guidelines, as well as BC's Go-Forward Guidelines for post-secondary institutions.
Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Early Bird Deadline is April 1; regular deadline is June 15, 2022.
Emily Carr University offers two full Aboriginal Scholarships to students of Aboriginal ancestry. Application deadline is March 1, 2022.
