Friends of Chamber Music welcomes back the Ariel Quartet for a second concert with the organization at the Vancouver Playhouse on October 29 at 7:30 pm.

Hailed by the Washington Post as delivering “seething passion with a deft and precise touch”, the Ariel Quartet is composed of violinists Alexandra Kazovsky and Gershon Gerchikov, cellist Amit Even-Tov, and violist Jan Grüning. Since forming when the members were teenagers studying at the Jerusalem Academy Middle School of Music and Dance in Israel over two decades ago, the group has blended American, Israeli, and German string traditions in performances around the world.

On the program for the evening is Ravel’s String Quartet in F major; Berlin-based Israeli contemporary composer Matan Porat’s 4 Ladino Songs for String Quartet; and Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 9 in C major, Opus 59, No. 3, “Razumovsky”.
