Friends of Chamber Music welcome the renowned Takács Quartet back to Vancouver for a concert at the Vancouver Playhouse on December 5 at 7:30 pm.

This Colorado-based ensemble delivering Hungarian style is a perennial audience favourite, having performed in Vancouver numerous times over the past 40 years.

Audiences are invited to join the ensemble for an evening of dazzling versatility with rich and subtle playing. The concert opens with Joseph Haydn’s magical String Quartet in B-flat Major, Opus 76, No. 4, “Sunrise”, a cheerful treat at this dark time of the year.

It is followed in the lineup by Béla Bartók’s unusually structured yet appealing String Quartet No. 2 in A Minor. The performance concludes with Franz Schubert’s strange and mysterious String Quartet No. 15 in G Major, D887, the composer’s final string quartet.

Ticket details and more information can be found at Friends of Chamber Music.
