Friends of Chamber Music are delighted to welcome back the Takács Quartet with very special guest, the eminent English pianist Stephen Hough, at the Vancouver Playhouse on February 22.

The Takács are the only chamber string ensemble to be named to the Gramophone Hall of Fame and have commissioned Hough’s very first string quartet—this concert marking its Canadian premiere.

The Colorado-based quartet will also play Joseph Haydn's ”Sunrise” string quartet in B-flat major and join with Hough to close the evening with Antonin Dvořák s sublime masterpiece, Piano and String Quintet No. 2 in A major, Opus 81.

This is an exceptional opportunity to hear one of the first performances of Hough’s first string quartet, dedicated to the Takács.

As ever, the quartet is receiving the highest possible accolades worldwide, with the Guardian recently calling Takács “Simply the best I have ever heard in concert.”
