FOR THOSE who find going to a live play a bit sc-a-a-a-ry right now, the Gateway Theatre is sending out artful paper kits to help you stage your own show at home. And all you’ll need is paper, glue, and a little spot cleared amid your #WFH madness.

Called Hallows’ Eve, the package is assembled with beautifully illustrated sets and characters by artist Keely O’Brien. The script itself, enclosed in the kit, is penned by Jasmine Chen, the Richmond-based company’s artistic and community producer.

A “how-to” video is posted at gatewaytheatre.com.

People are encouraged to share their at-home experience by posting photos and videos with the paper theatre on social media using the tag #MyGTPaperTheatreKit

Paper theatres date back to early 19th century Europe, when they were sold at concession stands at opera houses, playhouses, and vaudeville theatres.

To receive a Hallows’ Eve paper theatre kit in time for Halloween, order by October 26. For more information visit http://gatewaytheatre.com/paper-theatre.
