Vancouver’s all-Asian drag family, House of Rice, performs at the Polygon, August 8 and 19
The collective of diverse, queer Asian artists appears as part of the Interior Infinite exhibition
The Polygon hosts House of Rice August 8 from 1 to 3 pm PDT and August 19 from 6 to 8 pm PDT.
INTERIOR INFINITE, AN exhibition currently on at the Polygon, showcases artists who express their lived realities through costume, make-up, and masquerade—the very essence of drag performance.
As part of this offering, Vancouver’s all-Asian drag family, House of Rice, is putting on two special performances at the North Vancouver gallery.
House of Rice is an acclaimed collective of queer Asian artists of diverse backgrounds. Founded by house mother Shay Dior and featuring Skim, Maiden China, Kara Juku, and others, the group merges modern queer culture with traditional references in its performances, dismantling gender stereotypes while addressing the intersectional experiences of queer and Asian identities in Vancouver.
To celebrate the connections between Interior Infinite and LGBTQIA2S+ communities, the Polygon hosts House of Rice on August 8 from 1 to 3 pm PDT and August 19 from 6 to 8 pm PDT. The latter performance will also feature a pop-up installation adjacent to the main exhibition.
