Indian Summer Festival presents Transcendence by Anosh Irani on July 15 at 7 pm PDT.

ANOSH IRANI IS releasing a new work at Indian Summer Festival 2021, one that that sits at the nexus of theatre and film.

Irani, whose previous titles include The Cripple and His Talismans, The Song of Kahunsha, Dahanu Road, The Parcel, The Men in White, and Bombay Black, is a three-time Governor General’s Literary Award finalist and two-time Dora Award-winning playwright whose work has been translated in to 11 languages. For Transcendence, he teamed up with director Lois Anderson to explore themes that recur in his art, such as: Is it possible to transcend pain? If so, how? Or do people diminish pain by transforming the present moment instead?

Performed by Munish Sharma and Laara Sadiq, Transcendence plumbs the depths of the human experience and explores guidance people may get from spirit guides who live among them.

Following the July 15 premiere, Irani and Anderson will join ISF artistic director Sirish Rao and guest artists from the literary and theatre worlds for a live conversation about the act of transformation.

A replay of the work will be available for online viewing from 12 pm PDT July 16 until midnight July 17 for a one-time watch per pass/ticket.
