Jane Coop Plays Mozart is a concert that will shake the earth beneath your feet.
The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents the esteemed pianist playing Mozart’s Concerto No. 24 in C minor, K.491. The striking, reflective piece from 1786 is one of only two that the legendary composed in a minor key.
One of Canada’s most prominent and distinguished artists, Coop has performed in concert halls all over the world. She is a cherished faculty artist at the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival in Maine, where for a quarter of a century she has been collaborating with members of the Juilliard Quartet among other noted string players.
At the UBC School of Music she was a professor of piano and chamber music for many years, designated as a Distinguished University Scholar, and presented with a Killam Teaching Award. With 16 critically acclaimed CD recordings to her name, Coop is a member of the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia.
In addition, the concert heralds the premiere of Ian Cusson’s Songs From the House of Death, a VSO commission featuring mezzo-soprano Krisztina Szabó.

To honour a promise made to VSO’s valued subscribers and to encourage physical distancing, this concert will be sold to 60% capacity.
Jane Coop Plays Mozart takes place Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9 at 8 pm at the Orpheum. A live broadcast is also available online on Saturday.
