Soul singer Jarvis Church performs live at the Shadbolt
The multifaceted singer-songwriter and producer got his start fronting The Philosopher Kings
Jarvis Church has worn many hats during his fascinatingly varied and successful musical career. Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is pleased to present the multifaceted artist at the Studio Theatre (6450 Deer Lake Avenue) on Saturday, December 3 from 8 to 10 pm.
Having first soared to prominence as the front man for The Philosopher Kings, the ground-breaking R’n’B-rooted pop group that gained popularity across Canada in the 1990s, Jarvis Church later turned to producing and songwriting alongside bandmate Brian West.
Also known as Gerald Eaton, the musician derived his stage name from two parallel streets in Toronto. The Jamaican-born, Los Angeles-based artist was instrumental in Nelly Furtado's rise to international stardom.
He continues to write and produce for a range of artists, including K’Naan. If he had to choose a single role, Jarvis Church would without hesitation select “soul singer.”
Tickets for the December 3 concert are: Adult $35, Senior/Student $30, Youth $15.
