Kay Meek Arts Centre presents contemporary Indo-jazz fusion collaborative ensemble Raagaverse on April 4 & 5 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm.

Led by vocalist Shruti Ramani with bassist Jodi Proznick, pianist Noah Franche-Nolan, and drummer Nicholas Bracewell, Raagaverse is a creative Indo-jazz fusion band that pays homage to two deeply historical and culturally significant genres: classical Hindustani music and jazz.

The ensemble retains the authenticity of both musical traditions, melding them seamlessly into one cohesive sound that is dynamic and explosive. Recent performances include the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, the Gordon Smith Gallery Music Series, and the Fort Langley Jazz Festival.

Ramani’s musical fluency originates from her rigorous Hindustani training under Dr. Ritu Johri in Mumbai, India, and her jazz studies at Capilano University. Her original compositions use melodies ornamented with traditional Hindustani nuances that are marked by underlying modern jazz harmonies and rhythms.

Tickets and more details are available via the Kay Meek Arts Centre.
