Kay Meek Arts Centre hosts Toronto-based soul music powerhouse Tanika Charles for two intimate cabaret-style performances on October 28 and 29 at 7:30 pm.

Since emerging on the international scene in 2017, Charles has revealed herself to be one of soul music’s best-kept secrets. Both on-stage and off, she presents an immutable charm, endearingly honest in her vulnerabilities.

Charles’s debut album Soul Run went on to receive nominations for the Polaris Music Prize, and a Juno Award nomination for best R&B/Soul Recording of the Year. The critical reception was overwhelmingly positive, with songs such as “Endless Chain”, “Love Fool”, and “Soul Run” receiving regular radio rotation in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and France.

Her most recent album, 2022’s Papillon de Nuit: The Night Butterfly, captures a ’70s soul vibe infused with funky jazz tempos.

Tickets to see Charles in-concert can be purchased online, or by calling the box office at 604-981-6335.
