THE MASSEY THEATRE has announced its mainstage season for 2022-23.

Launching the programming on November 25 is Tom Jackson: Stories, Songs and Santa Causes. Jackson is a Companion of the Order of Canada, Juno and Gemini Humanitarian Award winner, 11-time honorary degree recipient, and recipient of the 2014 Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement. The storyteller, actor, singer, and activist will be joined by musician-producer, Tom McKillip to kick off the holiday season while raising funds for and awareness of local food banks and family service agencies.

On December 3, Michael Kaeshammer brings his coast-to-coast tour to the Massey stage. The internationally acclaimed pianist, singer, and songwriter—who blends classical, jazz, blues, and boogie-woogie, and pop—will perform well-known tracks as well as songs from his forthcoming release, Turn It Up.

International Guitar Night 2023 takes place on January 28. The world’s premiere touring guitar festival brings together innovative acoustic guitarists to exchange musical ideas in a concert setting. The 23rd edition features Canadian jazz guitarist and vocalist Jocelyn Gould, winner of the 2021 Juno for Jazz Album of the Year, alongside Spanish flamenco master Jesus Guerrero, soloist and chamber musician Stephanie Jones, and Israeli-Canadian nylon string guitarist Itmar Erez.

Ballet Jörgen presents Cinderella on February 18, 2023. Choreographed by Bengt Jörgen, it is a contemporary take on the classic fairy tale.

A Dinosaur Tale happens on March 18 and 19, 2023. The live action-fantasy adventure with puppets tells the story of two eighth-graders on a school field trip who must find a way to send giant dinos back home after they have been brought to life by mysterious time-warping wormhole.

“Bringing generations together is the opportunity we wanted to offer this year, Massey Theatre Society executive director Jessica Schneider says in a release. “That’s why we chose artists who can excite and inspire all ages and offer a range of aesthetic experiences. Plus...dinosaurs!”
