Ostwelve, William Prince among acts announced for 2022 Mission Folk Music Festival
The fest’s 35th edition features local artists as well as musicians from as far away as Estonia
THE MISSION FOLK Music Festival has announced the lineup for its 35th edition, running July 22 to 24 at Fraser River Heritage Park in Mission the unceded traditional territory of the Kwantlen, Matsqui, and Leq’ a: mel First Nations among the Stó: lō peoples.
Among the 20-plus acts slated to perform are BC-based five-piece alternative folk-rock band Shred Kelly; Chile’s Golosa La Orquesta; Oji-Cree singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist Aysanabee; Estonia’s Puuluup, which directs the vibrations of the horsehair strings on a talharpa, a four-stringed bowed lyre, through effects and looper; and Ronnie Dean Harris, aka Ostwelve, a multimedia artist of Stō:lo, St’át'imc, Nlaka'pamux descent who performs Indigenous hip hop; and William Prince, who draws on his Peguis First Nations roots in his music.
With three daytime stages and an evening main stage, the festival also offers family-friendly Wee Folks programming, workshops, food and artisan-market vendors, an on-site licensed bistro, camping, and more.
Weekend passes are on sale at a discount until May 31; advance tickets at a higher price go on sale June 1; and gate prices will be in effect as of July 12. Children 12 and under are free.
