JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, The Phantom of the Opera, Evita, Cats, and Sunset Boulevard: the work of Andrew Lloyd Webber is undoubtedly iconic. Now, after a successful cross-Canada tour, a celebration of his most famous music is coming to B.C.
Along with a Vancouver performance on October 16, Music of the Night is being performed in a total of 17 other B.C. cities, including Abbotsford, Maple Ridge, Surrey, New Westminster, and Delta. The singers—all veterans of large-scale stage musicals—are accompanied by a live band that includes Evan Berndt and Carol Colpitts on keyboards, bassist-guitarist Cole Friesen, and drummer Dean McKey.
“He is someone who’s beloved by many,” Alan Corbishley, founder of Sound the Alarm: Music/Theatre, told Stir of Webber in an earlier interview. “The music is very satisfying, and the voices are extraordinary on our tour. His music shows off the voices in such beautiful ways.”
This past spring, Music of the Night travelled to 17 Ontario and Quebec communities.
