FOUNDED BY ARTISTIC director David Pay, Music on Main is bringing its Modulus Festival back for the 10th time this fall, with live performances running November 5 to 10. It’s the organization’s first in-person festival since 2019.

Taking place at the Roundhouse and the Annex, the milestone event centres on forging new bonds through music, while challenging audiences and aritsts alike to connect with their thoughts and feelings and with each other.

World premieres are among the lineup’s many highlights.

Mark Takeshi McGregor (flute) performs as part of a program that features the world premiere of Keiko Devaux’s “Hōrai” along with music by Alfredo Santa Ana, James O’Callaghan, and Nicole Lizée.

Another piece by Santa Ana will have its debut when performed by the Tempest Project Company.

Then there’s the hit return of As dreams are made, created specifically for one audience member and one musician.

There’s a free family concert featuring young string quartets, while tribute concerts will honour late musical legends Louis Andriessen and Frederic Rzewski.

Among the fest’s other featured musicians and musical groups are Adrian Muir, Aram Bajakian, Aysha Dulong, Cedar Quartet, Chloe Kim, Cindy Kao, Colin MacDonald, Corey Hamm, Dailin Hsieh, John Korsrud, Julia Chien, Julia Ulehla, Keiko Deveaux, Nancy Tam, Rachel Kiyo Iwaasa, Rebecca Mulvihill, Sabrina Schroeder, Saina Khaledi, Sapphire Haze, and Sequoia String Quartet.

The full schedule will be announced on Octdober 14, when tickets go on sale. More information is at Music on Main.
