Pushing Boundaries 2023: Our Home on Native Land takes place from September 29 to November 4 at CityScape Community ArtSpace. An opening reception is on September 28 from 7 pm to 9 pm, and a guest curator tour with artist Sho Sho Esquiro is on October 14 from 2 pm to 3:30 pm.

Pushing Boundaries is North Van Arts’s biennial open-call exhibition to showcase emerging local and national contemporary First Nations, Métis, and Inuit artists, makers, and craftspeople. This exhibition is designed to celebrate contemporary Indigenous art practices, fusing modern and traditional creative techniques.

Themed Our Home on Native Land, this year’s event will feature Esquiro, along with Vashti Etzel, Salisha Old Bull, Krystile Silverfox, Teresa Vander Meer-Chasse, and Speplól Tanya Zilinski. The artwork displayed encourages the knowledge sharing of issues which have been threatening Indigenous sovereignty since the 1400s.

More details on the exhibition can be found here.
