PACIFIC THEATRE HAS just unveiled the full lineup for its 2024-25 season, called In Good Company in honour of the passionate, accomplished artists and creators that will be highlighted over the coming months.

The roster kicks off this fall on the main stage with award-winning New York–based playwright Will Eno’s Middletown, a guest production by Sticks and Stones Theatre running from September 18 to October 6. The ensemble work follows main character Mary Swanson as she settles into a Middletown suburb, hoping to start a family. But when she realizes her new neighbours can see through their local garden patch into the outer bounds of the universe, she is confronted with magical questions about endings and beginnings.

From November 13 to December 21, audiences will be treated to a stage adaptation by Kim Selody of J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterful book The Hobbit, licensed by Middle Earth Enterprises, with additional dialogue by Tim Carlson and Peter Carlone. The story adored the world over will be brought to life by two performers in the roles of hobbit Bilbo Baggins and the mysterious wizard Gandalf.

The first show of 2025 will be Tony Award-nominated playwright Lucas Hnath’s A Doll’s House, Part 2, a sharp, witty, invigorating guest production by Western Gold Theatre running from February 5 to 23. Picking back up where Henrik Ibsen’s 1879 play A Doll’s House left off, the plot sees Nora Helmer confront her husband, daughter, and the nursemaid who raised her children as she dives back into an exploration of gender inequality, relationships, and domestic roles.

Kim’s Convenience creator Ins Choi will bring the world premiere of his one-man show Son of a Preacherman to Pacific Theatre from April 2 to 6. Sharing songs and stories that riff on Bible stories, his pastor father, and what it was like growing up in a Korean church, the writer-director melds faith and art with an abundance of humour.

The world premiere of Katherine Gauthier’s immersive show Meeting will wrap up mainstage performances for the season from May 14 to June 7. The guest production by ITSAZOO Productions in association with Pacific Theatre is set at a Co-Dependents and Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous meeting, where five people share their stories and test their limits in an empty church activity room (fittingly staged in Pacific Theatre’s Chalmers activity room).

There are also four music-based shows and special presentations in store throughout the season.

Pacific Theatre’s enduring favourite holiday show, Christmas Presence, will return December 8, 15 to 17, and 22 to 23. Hosted interchangeably by Ron Reed and Shauna Johannesen, the performance will feature readings and songs by a rotating cast of both new and familiar musical guests.

Plus, critically acclaimed beatboxing string trio Infinitus will perform on October 19; Travis Abels will bring his doomsday-cult examination Things I Hide From Dad to the stage from March 5 to 8; and Oh Pray Tell—musicians Sally Titasey, Betty Supple, and Shayna Jones’s unique blend of harmonies, stom-clap rhythms, and storytelling—will take the spotlight on April 6.

Season subscription packages are officially on sale.
