Pi Theatre is proud to showcase Black Space Jam at the Biltmore Cabaret on Friday, March 3 from 8 to 11 pm as part of its Provocateurs Series. The event is produced by Vancouver non-profit Afro Van Connect and Black Space Media.
Black Space Jam (BSJ) is a live-performance showcase that provides local and international artists of African descent a platform to share and promote their artwork. The celebration amplifies Black creatives and the Black experience.
Cultural renaissance is the theme of the 2023 BSJ, which will feature dance by Brotha Jason (Jason Bempong), spoken-word poetry by Shayna Jones (we are STORYFOLK), and a live DJ set by DJ Bazenga. Mufaro Mbudzi will perform stand-up comedy; ebonEmpress offers a musical blend of hip hop, neo-soul, and R&B; and KOR (aka Osmoses x) shares his fusion of hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeat, and soul.
The event will also host vendors selling locally made goods, including soap, food, clothing, and more.
The evening of multidisciplinary art will be followed by a chance to party and socialize with the artists.
Tickets can be purchased through the Biltmore Cabaret, and more info can be found at Pi Theatre.
