On January 22, the acclaimed Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles kicks off the Vancouver International Film Festival’s monthly PANTHEON series of “the "greatest movies of all time".

Inspired by the UK's Sight and Sound magazine poll, The series will take place on the third Sunday of each month at 11 am (with complimentary tea and coffee) and includes guest intros from film educators, reading notes, and a discussion after each show.

In 2022, Sight and Sound readers ranked Chantal Akerman’s 1975 masterpiece Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles as its #1 pick. The avant-garde, feminist film revolutionized the art form and yet is hardly known to the general public.

Grab the rare chance to see it on the big screen on January 22, with an introduction by Alla Gadassik, associate professor of Media History & Theory at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. The film repeats at VIFF Centre on January 24, 25, and 26.

Individual tickets are $18 and we are offering a series pass for $120 to see all 12 films. Find more information, and find out the year’s additional monthly screenings of films like Vertigo and Citizen Kane, here.
