Nowadays Theatre, in collaboration with Presentation House Theatre and Blackout Arts Society, announces the Vancouver premiere of EARWORM from October 10 to 13, with performances in both English and Persian (Farsi).

EARWORM tells the compelling story of Homa, a long-standing Iranian immigrant in Canada who fled persecution from the Islamic regime. Homa must face a personal dilemma as her son falls in love with a conservative Muslim woman. Set against the backdrop of modern-day Toronto, the play navigates Homa’s turbulent past and how it jeopardizes a family’s future happiness.

Inspired by real events, EARWORM is a stunning depiction of the far-reaching impact of the Iranian revolutions of 1979 and 2022 through themes of love, power, parenting, and political asylum.

Written and directed by Mohammad Yaghoubi, the production marked its world premiere in February in Toronto, presented by Nowadays Theatre in association with Crow’s Theatre.
