PUBLIC DISCO IS partying for Pride, hosting an all-day open-air celebration of queer dance music in an industrial Mount Pleasant laneway on August 3. The 19+ ticketed event runs from 3 pm to 11:30 pm and is part of Vancouver Pride Society’s Canada Pride 2024 programming.

Situated at West 3rd and Ontario Streets and adjacent parking lots, the bash is curated by local DJ Nancy Dru and features international house-music DJs Shaun J. Wright from Chicago and Sappho from Portland. The area will come alive with new temporary murals by queer artists Ciele Beau and Christina Hryc.

The third-annual Public Disco Pride celebration is its biggest undertaking to date. Programming also includes sets by local DJs Sam Steele, Adam 2, and DJ Grooveheart, as well as gogo dancers from Vancouver’s kiki ballroom scene.

Also part of the festivities is culinary fare from Good Dogs Plant Foods and Mom’s Grilled Cheese food trucks, while the event is fully licensed and will offer alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. There will be shaded spaces and picnic tables to hang out at. The block party is accessible, located on flat concrete, and will have wheelchair-accessible washrooms and quiet areas. Good Night Out Vancouver will be on-site providing harm-reduction services.

Public Disco is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to connecting communities through music in public spaces.

Early entry tickets are on sale now for $23.10 plus fees. Tier 2 general admission tickets are on sale now for $33.60 plus fees.
