Les Cowboys Fringants road movie L'Amerique Pleure, as Le Printemps des Rendez-vous streams new francophone films
The Quebec folk-rock group’s new film joins a roster of cinema from around the world
The rollicking Les Cowboys Fringants road movie L’Amerique Pleure—le film, directed by Louis-Philippe Eno, launches the Printemps des Rendez-vous du Cinéma, a new online program streaming now.
Shot in 4K last fall, the concert-event by the hugely popular Quebec folk rock music group takes audiences to their home province’s picturesque countryside, in the movie’s western Canadian streaming premiere.
It’s just one of several new offerings as Visions Ouest Productions, which puts on the Rendez-vous French Film Festival, has moved online year-round.
Must-see new francophone titles include Dilili in Paris, by Michel Ocelot; Lumière! The Advernture Begins, by Thierry Frémaux; the award-winning African tale La Nuit des Rois/Night of the Kings, by Philippe Lacôte; A Son by acclaimed Tunisian director Mehdi M. Barsaoui; Lola vers la Mer, by Laurent Micheli; L’Ecole Buissonniere by Nicolas Vanier; and The Most Beautiful Years of a Life, by Claude Lelouch.
Those are just the recent additions to a roster that already includes extended runs of films like Antoinette in the Cévennes and La Belle Epoque. At the end of May, watch for Petit Pays by Eric Barbier and Miss by Rubens Alves, in collaboration with the Alliances Françaises de l'Ouest.
