Royal Winnipeg Ballet School announces January 2025 auditions for young dancers in Vancouver
Following the company’s West Coast tour of Nutcracker this holiday season, aspiring artists are invited to pursue the prestigious training program
Aspiring young dancers in British Columbia will have an exciting opportunity this season: the chance to audition for the prestigious Royal Winnipeg Ballet School’s Professional Division.
Renowned worldwide for its top-tier ballet training, the RWB School will hold in-person auditions for students in Vancouver on January 12, 2025, at Arts Umbrella on Granville Island—an ideal chance for local dancers to make an impression firsthand. For those unable to attend in person, virtual auditions are available on multiple dates from November through February. Video submissions are also accepted, allowing young talent from across the province to pursue their ballet dreams from anywhere.
Auditions are open to dancers from academic grades 5 through post-secondary and provide a fantastic chance to showcase talent with the possibility of joining one of Canada’s most respected ballet institutions. At the RWB School, students benefit from exceptional training based in the Russian ballet system and gain access to physiotherapists, health and wellness experts, and academic support to ensure balanced growth as both dancers and individuals. Successful auditionees may be invited to attend the Summer Session, a transformative experience that serves as a stepping-stone to the full-time Ballet Academic Program in September 2025.
RWB’s connection to B.C. doesn’t stop there. This fall, the RWB Company will bring the magic of Nutcracker to West Coast audiences with performances in Surrey, Victoria, Nanaimo, and Vancouver from November through December. This annual favourite combines tradition with breathtaking artistry, making it a must-see for aspiring dancers and ballet enthusiasts alike.
For young dancers in B.C., auditioning for the RWB School Professional Division is more than just an assessment—it’s an invitation to join a vibrant community where they can thrive both in and beyond the studio. With access to advanced facilities, expert staff, and a home away from home at the Student Living Centre, RWB students gain the skills, resilience, and versatility to succeed wherever their passions take them.
This is a chance to follow a dream and develop lifelong skills. To learn more about auditioning for the RWB School Professional Division, visit rwb.org/audition or contact school@rwb.org.
