Ruby Slippers Theatre presents the world premiere of Dil Ka at the Presentation House Theatre in association with Blackout Art Society and Presentation House Theatre from March 22 to 31 (preview March 21).
Dil Ka follows Zahra, a Pakistani woman, as she prepares the traditional Pakistani dish biryani to present to her latest arranged match for marriage. Exploring the identity of a queer Muslim woman, Dil Ka tackles the growing tension between familial duties and personal desires through humour and food. As the story written by Lee Nisar unfolds, the biryani becomes a metaphor for the ingredients that make a “perfect bride”.
Dil Ka is directed by Tricia Trinh, and stars Talia Vandenbrink, Nimet Kanji, Parm Soor, Rami Kahlon, Janavi Chawla, and Tanaz Roudgar.
Showtimes are from Thursday to Saturday at 7:30pm and Saturdays & Sundays at 2 pm. The performance on March 23 at 7:30 pm is presented with ASL interpretation.
More details are available online, and tickets are on sale now.
